The need to talk

I always have the need to talk and I believe it is a flaw of mine and I don’t know how to correct it.

Let me give you a couple of examples:

-I get into work and people ask me how my weekend was I could limit myself to say it was fine or relax, but no here I go giving all the details.
-I have a doctor’s appointment. I could keep it to myself, yet everybody knows and then when they ask how it went, I can not say ok I have to again give details.

I do the exact same thing in every area of my life and it is not good. I am a complete open book, I have nothing to hide, but I should keep certain things to myself.
If you ask me to talk about myself to get to know me, within 2 hours of the conversation you will probably know some deep secrets of mine.

I don’t know how to stop and this is part of my therapy.

Do you have any suggestions?

PS I need to talk about my Summer giveaway dont foreget about it ;)

Caro, being open isn't a bad thing at all....most people are too closed I find! c'est sure que il y a des limites avec certaines persones....you just have to watch who you share things with...(some people aren't trustworthy....) otherwise no worries :)

Is that a problem? Because I'm the same way.

I don't think it's a problem because if it helps you I don't see it as a bad thing?!

It's nice when people are open. :)xx

I can definitely relate to this Caro. I'm the same way at times. I literally have to bite my tongue to keep myself from talking about something which I shouldn't share with others. I think it's ok to be open, but you have to choose who you are open with. =)

Unless you're saying things you're embarrassed of later, it's really not a bad thing. I have a hard time making conversation with people so I wish I was a bit more like you.

welllllllll, this is better than being completely closed off i think. and people will probably let you know if you are giving them too much info, or if they don't have the time to hear it all. at least i think they will.

i have one friend that talks non-stop. it is kind of hard to be around her. i love her to death, but it is just chatter NON-STOP. one time i saw a 60 minutes episode that talked about this phenom. they were saying that it seems as if these people are trying to connect with others, but they are really pushing others away. strange. but i don't think this is your issue. maybe you are just chatty and social? that isn't so bad!
